2018 is now in full swing, and with a new year, comes new trends! This year is going to see a big variation in the color trends from the past few years. Say ‘goodbye’ to soft, muted, pastels and say ‘HELLO’ to bold and beautiful! Pantone has announced that the 2018 color of the year is “Ultra Violet”, creating a bright and whimsical palate for this year’s style.

Both the 2016 and 2017 Pantone Color of the Year were much more subtle than the 2018 choice. 2016 brought us the combination of Rose Quartz and Serenity, which are soft, pastel pink and blue. 2017 brought us Greenery, which will still be popular in the spring and summer. It is a natural, muted green, perfect for classy events, especially when incorporating lace. This year’s color being Ultra Violet, however, takes a turn for the exciting, the bold and the vivid.

The popular trend for 2018 weddings is the “Celestial” theme, to go along with the new bold color trend. Now with that said, the popular trend of “rustic” themed weddings will definitely not be fading away this year. We will most likely even see a combination of the two, creating a Rustic-Celestial theme.

Rustic weddings typically incorporate DIY projects to help save money, and add to the rustic feel. DIY or “Do It Yourself” projects for weddings are unquestionably the biggest trend of the year! Everyone loves to save a buck or two, and DIY works great to save money on details such as center pieces, flower arrangements, or invitations. This allows more room to work within your budget for other items such as tents, lighting or even padded chairs to give grandma some extra comfort.
